AEO audit: getting into the search engine AI answer

We take the search engine AI answer for your query and parse the pages it leans on. Every source arrives flagged: used in the answer, or merely seen.

How the AEO audit runs

Five steps. Only the first differs — the rest is shared by all three audits

Step 1 · Competitor selection

We request the engine's AI answer for your query and take its sources — those are the competitors: the pages the answer shows instead of yours. Each one shows whether the answer leaned on it or only looked at it.

Step 2 · Page brief — 1 limit

We parse the selected competitors and build a brief: which blocks, facts and questions the page needs to answer the query more completely than they do. Part of every run — every other output builds on it.

Step 3 · Page copy — 2 limits

Finished copy written from that brief, not a rewrite of competitors. Enabled with a checkbox in the form.

Step 4 · Meta and structured data — 1 limit

Title, description and JSON-LD matched to the page content. A separate output — enabled with a checkbox in the form.

Step 5 · Page mockup — 3 limits

A visual layout: how the blocks from the brief sit on the page. Needs the brief and the copy, enabled separately.

Your own competitor list

You do not have to trust the automatic pick: a competitor list you set by hand outranks the one we find, in all three audits.

Add outputs later

No need to rerun the audit. Meta or the mockup can be generated from a finished report with one button — the competitor data is already there.

The report explains itself

A "How we worked this out" block shows what was analysed and what the service inferred for you, whether the page is relevant to the query, where the reference page type came from, who ended up as a competitor — and what failed.

Questions about the AEO audit

What is an AI answer and how does it differ from an assistant answer?

The AI answer is generated inside the search engine, above the normal results: someone searches as usual and gets a ready answer with links to sources. An assistant answer is a separate conversation the person opened themselves — that is what the GEO audit covers.

What does the "used in the answer" flag mean?

That the answer actually leaned on that page rather than just opening it while preparing. The difference matters: being among the pages seen is not the same as being in the answer, and the pages the answer leaned on are the ones worth studying first.

What if the AI answer cited nothing?

The audit stops — there is nothing to compare against. The reason goes into the report, and it is worth rephrasing the query.

How long does an AEO audit take?

Measured, about 95 seconds with one output — the fastest of the three. Each extra output adds roughly a minute.
